A battered moving box from the original relocation. New Jersey to South Carolina. A torn hometown sticker, one fern frond caught under the tape and a request to return the entire situation to sender.
A worn photograph of a fern at the New Jersey Botanical Garden was recovered beside South Carolina relocation mail. The photograph was already old. The fresh damage around its edges suggests repeated handling.
Fernando's workstation contained HG-001 notes, rejected routes home and an ingredient container with one label covering another. A completed getaway plan was found nearby.
Lab coat. ID badge. Hat. Mug. Behind the ordinary contents were a disguise advertisement and a hitchhiking route with one option circled in red.
An anonymous envelope appeared at the police department on April 22, 2024. It contained sand, plant material, a shell fragment and no usable return address.
The trail changes after the HG-001 broadcast. A bar receipt leads to a motel. A motel impression leads to Deadline Delivery. What Fernando wanted—and why he turned north—remains unresolved until the final exhibit.
Claude's statement and the abandoned table place Fernando at the Loose Stool Beach Bar during a report of a fatality connected to HG-001. Fernando finished his drink and left his cigar and receipt behind.
The motel notepad looked blank until graphite revealed four impressions: FERNANDO. AUTHORIZED PICKUP. PACKAGE DD-7843-219. DEADLINE DELIVERY.
A denied package authorization form was recovered from the Deadline Delivery floor after a disturbance. Scattered paperwork, soil and fern fragments marked the route to an exit.
A traffic camera recorded the stolen Deadline Delivery van entering New Jersey on I-78. The image failed to identify the driver clearly or show what was being transported.
The missing package contained Charlie's urn. Charlie had died following the HG-001 incident. Fernando returned him to New Jersey, ordered two all-the-way dogs and waited as officers approached the booth.
The final exhibit reveals what Fernando took, why he returned to New Jersey and what the fern knew all along.
